Skirting boards do not have to arrive painted or veneered. Raw MDF skirting leaves the choice of final colour and finish in your hands.
Raw skirting boards are made from MDF with a levelled, sanded surface and no primer, paint or lacquer finish. Ready for priming and painting, they suit workshops, installers and projects that want to choose and apply their own final finish. Every lacquered skirting profile in our collection can also be made in raw MDF.
What Are Raw MDF Skirting Boards Used For?
Raw profiles are made to the same standard as our lacquered profiles; the difference is that the final finish is left to the project:
- Freedom to choose the colour: You can use your chosen wall paint colour rather than being limited to a RAL colour selection.
- Flexible budgeting: Having your own decorator or workshop apply the finish lets you plan the painting costs around the project.
- A smooth, prepared surface: The levelled surface is ready for primer and paint without additional initial sanding.
- The same range of profiles: From classical mouldings to simple modern shapes, the collection is also available in raw MDF.
Who Should Choose Raw MDF Skirting Boards?
Raw MDF skirting is particularly suited to workshops and installers with their own painting facilities, projects that need a specific wall-matching colour, and contractors who want to schedule finishing work within a larger construction programme. If you prefer to avoid a separate painting stage, factory-finished lacquered skirting is a more convenient option.
How Are Raw MDF Skirting Boards Painted?
Raw profiles can be painted before or after installation. Painting beforehand generally makes it easier to achieve a neat finish at corner joints. Apply primer first, smooth the surface with fine sandpaper, then apply the finishing paint in thin coats. Any filled areas left after fitting can be touched up in the same way.
The Serin Ahşap Raw MDF Skirting Collection
Our raw MDF skirting collection includes all of our lacquered profiles supplied as unpainted MDF. Each is made in our own workshop to the chosen dimensions and the same production standard.
To compare profile shapes, see S-04 Chamfered Flat, S-05 Rounded-Edge Flat, S-07 Minimal Flat, S-10 Classic Moulded and S-16 Grooved Modern. These pages describe the lacquered, painted products; for a raw MDF order, the same profile is supplied unpainted. Contact us to discuss dimensions and the quantity in linear metres.
What should I use to paint raw MDF skirting boards?
Use a primer and finishing paint suitable for MDF, such as an appropriate acrylic or water-based system. Applying thin coats helps achieve a smoother finish.
Are raw MDF skirting boards cheaper than lacquered skirting boards?
Raw profiles generally cost less to manufacture because they do not include factory painting. You should also allow for the cost of applying the finish.
Should raw MDF skirting be painted before or after installation?
Painting before installation generally helps achieve a neater finish at corner joints. Small filled areas left after fitting can then be touched up using the same method.
