What Are Wall Trims and Wood Panelling? Where to Use Them

Wall trims and wood wall panelling turn a plain wall into an architectural feature. They can be a natural continuation of the skirting detail used around a room.

Wall trims are decorative timber profiles fitted horizontally or vertically to introduce lines and depth. Wood wall panelling uses interlocking panels to cover a larger area, or a whole wall, with a continuous surface. Both are available in the same oak, walnut, beech, iroko and sapele veneers as our natural wood-veneer skirting boards, allowing the skirting, trims and panelling to share a coordinated material palette.

What Is the Difference Between Wall Trims and Panelling?

The two are often combined: panelling on the lower wall can be finished with a slim decorative moulding along its upper edge.

Where Are Wall Trims and Wood Panelling Used?

Common uses include feature walls in living rooms and bedrooms, architectural detailing in hallways and entrance areas, and coordinated finishes in offices and reception spaces. They can also create a focal point behind a television unit or headboard. In rooms with high ceilings, a horizontal trim near the ceiling can help balance the proportions.

How Do You Choose the Right Veneer?

Like our natural wood-veneer skirting boards, wall trims and panelling are available in oak, walnut, beech, iroko and sapele. Walnut suits a warm, darker interior; oak or beech can create a lighter, more open feel. Iroko and sapele may be chosen for their durability in more humid areas close to the outdoors. Using the same veneer species for the skirting and wall details helps bring the interior together.

Slatted Room Dividers: Beyond the Wall

Another member of the natural wood-veneer range is the slatted room divider. It uses veneered baffle profiles with a 4 × 9 cm cross-section and a length of 2.8 m to separate areas without completely blocking light or sightlines. It can complement wall trims and panelling in residential entrances, corridors and office reception areas.

The Serin Ahşap Wall Trim and Panelling Collection

We produce our wall trims and wood wall panelling to the chosen dimensions, with the same veneer options as our skirting boards and room dividers. Production begins after sample approval, helping you create a coordinated material palette for the whole interior from one workshop.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can wall trims and wood panelling be used in a humid bathroom?

Natural wood-veneer products are not recommended for areas with continuous exposure to high humidity. Suitable waterproofing and ventilation are necessary when considering bathroom use.

Does installing wood wall panelling damage the wall?

Interlocking panels are generally secured with small screws or adhesive, usually without causing major permanent damage to the wall surface.

Where can decorative wall trims be used?

They are used in interiors such as living rooms, bedrooms, corridors and offices to create feature walls or add architectural detail.
